ADULT SESSION 2008 UPDATE
We wrapped up our summer season with the annual adults only
session. We had a rain day on Wednesday, but the adults got the
opportunity to try out their surfing legs on the Oregon coast.
There was also a wine tour, and rafting down the White Salmon River in
Washington State.
SESSION 13, 2008 UPDATE
It was a challenging week.
Rain, thunder & lightning, fog, wind.......and 2 sunny days.
We snowcat skied on the magic mile canyon run on Thursday morning when
the lifts were closed. Kids went bowling and then to the
movies on one of the rain days.
SESSION 12, 2008 UPDATE
Really warm this week. The glacier has fewer and fewer
people on it as we get closer to the end. Kids are getting in a
ton of runs.
SESSION 11, 2008 UPDATE
Tons of snow still left. No signs of rocks on upper
Palmer snowfield. We were able to ski all the way to the parking
lot thru August 6 (might be the latest date we've ever been able to do
that!)
SESSION 10, 2008 UPDATE
Summer weather was sporadic this session. We got fogged
out on Friday, so the kids got the option of movies, the Oregon zoo,
bowling, and bouldering.
SESSION 9, 2008 UPDATE
Fun in the sun! Still skiing all the way to the parking
lot (as you can see in the photo). Snowpack is great. If you
are thinking of coming in August, book your flight and get here!
SESSION 8, 2008 UPDATE
This place is so fun! Amazing conditions, short lift
lines, and kids getting to that next level in their favorite on-snow
sport.
SESSION 7, 2008 UPDATE
Seven sessions down, seven go to. We are still skiing
all the way to the parking lot. That's X-Games super-star Tanner
Hall hitting up our quarter-pipe on Friday.
SESSION 6, 2008 UPDATE
Four out of five days were excellent. You can't win
them all!! 4th of July on the mountain was a little challenging
with thick fog that rolled in and never let up, which ended our training
before it began.
SESSION 5, 2008 UPDATE
Great week at Mt Hood. Why aren't you here?!
SESSION 4, 2008 UPDATE
It was sunny all week, but the temperatures remained cold up
until Friday. A boarder-cross course was added to our terrain park
(see photo). X-Games champion Tanner Hall was all over the
mountain this week, looping thru our mogul lane jump and terrain park.
SESSION 3, 2008 UPDATE
Eleven inches of new snow fell overnight on Monday, creating
a winter wonderland. By the end of the week, the sun made a grand
appearance, so we got the best of both worlds in a 5-day period.
Andrej Jerman, world cup racer from Slovenija, is here coaching for
three sessions. Andrej had several top 10 finishes this past
season. Mark Stegall, head snowboard coach, and his crew have our
private terrain park in excellent shape. New this year to our park
is a giant sized quarter-pipe.
SESSION 2, 2008 UPDATE
Brrrrrrrrr! Winter is holding on tight here in the
Pacific Northwest. It's great for the snowpack, but not so great
for the sunscreen industry. For the 4th time in camp history, they
opened up the lower mountain "Pucci" chairlift for summer training due
to adverse weather on the upper mountain. Friday was an all out
winter-type blizzard. Some of the kids and staff skied down to
Govy (town of Government Camp) at the end of the day. This is
usually a winter ritual, but with the ample snowpack, it became a June
event. Kids also got the opportunity to go "caving" at Mt
Adams (see below)
SESSION 1, 2008 UPDATE
We had a pretty good start to our 30th summer of operation.
Three decades of helping make skiers and snowboarders better at what
they like to do. We had a good mix of weather conditions this week
including a little rain, some sunshine, a thunderstorm, occasional fog,
and some wind too. The ski and snowboard racers spent most of
their time training gates on the magic mile chairlift. Our private
terrain park on lower Palmer made it's 2008 debut too with a wide
variety of jumps, rails and boxes to pick from. On Friday, just
about everybody in camp took at least one run on the Zig Zag glacier
west of the Palmer chairlift, where the snow was creamy smooth.
SPRING CAMPS 2008
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
WINTER CAMPS 2007
Lots of new snow for our 3 winter sessions this year.
Snowboard coach Mark, set up a box at our camp lodge for some evening
jib sessions. The racers spent most of their time training at
Timberline, while the snowboarders and freeskiers shredded the slopes of
Mt Hood Meadows.
